Episode 2: Fridays For Future

Episodes / Thursday, March 21st, 2019

On Friday, March 15, 2019, I went to the Fridays For Future climate protest in Berlin with my husband. The protest was very emotional for me. In this episode, I talk about the protest and how such an action affects my carbon “handprint,” not just my carbon footprint.

You can listen to the episode here:

I was struck by a few things: how urgent a protest led by students and full of children and babies made climate action for me, despite the fact that I have been a sustainability professional for basically the past 10 years. And that such a protest put me on the outside: I am no longer a young person whose future is being stolen, but old enough to be at least partially responsible for the mess we’re in.

Grist.org and The Guardian have also written great pieces on the movement.
