This past week, I spent most of my free time at Extinction Rebellion’s DelibCamp in Berlin. I spoke with protests, listened to workshops, and helped out in my small way. I want to share some information about Extinction Rebellion, Rebellion Week, and particularly the DelibCamp in Berlin:
Also this week, German chancellor Angela Merkel released details of the government’s new Climate Action Law. The bill will set carbon reduction targets for different sectors, and codify into law the countrywide targets Merkel has already set, particularly 55% reductions from 1990 levels by 2030. Although the bill has several great points, as a policy it’s more moderate than what groups like Extinction Rebellion are calling for: XR wants net carbon zero by 2025.
